“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” -Psalm 127:1
At Christian Family Life, our vision is to see Marriage Discipleship in every community, church, and country.
Here’s why: when marriages are formed and sustained by covenant, families thrive. When families thrive, communities grow in unity. And when communities grow in unity, the ripple effect reaches further than we can imagine. That’s Acts 1:8 in motion!
Why strengthening families matters — it has to be more than a slogan:
- Stability matters: Children born to cohabitating parents are over 5x more likely to see a parental split by age 3 compared with those born to married parents.
- Formal marriage matters: A wide body of research shows kids raised by married parents, on average, fare better because two committed adults usually bring more time, money, and emotional bandwidth to raising children. Research consistently demonstrates that children raised by married parents typically experience better outcomes.
- Preparation works: A landmark Journal of Family Psychology study found premarital education is associated with higher marital satisfaction, less destructive conflict, and lower odds of divorce.
There is no doubt that what is biblical bears fruit practically. It’s time to move the needle toward healthier marriages. When the Lord builds the house, it impacts the marriage at a deep level.
If we want to revive the American family, we can’t settle for shallow preparation or relationships built on consuming. Let’s build homes on covenant, not convenience; on FAITH, not performance; on discipleship, not just date nights. Start where you are: open God’s Word together, obey it together, and invite the church to walk with you.
Prayer: Lord, build our homes by Your Word. Help us lay a foundation of faith and love, and use our families to bless the church and our city. Amen.
