Marriage and the Mission

Living the Great Commission at Home

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”
—Matthew 28:19

When we think about the Great Commission, we often imagine mission trips, church plants, or gospel crusades around the globe. And those are all beautiful expressions of obedience to Christ’s command. But what if one of the most strategic platforms for making disciples is right in our own home, our marriage?

The Great Commission is fueled by the Great Commandment—to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37–39). That love compels us to share what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. And what better place to demonstrate that love and live out the Gospel than within the covenant of marriage?

Throughout history, churches have built bridges into communities using platforms like medical missions, sports camps, VBS, or clean water wells. Each one opens a door to share the message of hope and redemption. In the same way, marriage can be a platform, a visible, relational, God-ordained bridge for the Gospel.

A Christ-centered marriage models unconditional love, forgiveness, unity, sacrifice, and grace. It shows the world what it means to live in covenant. It disciples children, impacts neighbors, and can even break generational cycles.

At Christian Family Life, this is exactly the mission we’re pursuing: Marriage Discipleship in every community, church, and country. Through teams in places like Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and parts of the Caribbean, Central America, Sout America, and Africa, we’re seeing how the Gospel transforms not just marriages—but entire communities.

Here’s a thought to consider:
Sharing the Gospel starts with remembering the high price Jesus paid for our salvation.
Discipleship starts by faithfully studying, living, and sharing God’s Word, beginning with those closest to us.

When your marriage reflects God’s love, your home becomes a beacon of hope. It’s more than personal growth, it’s Kingdom impact.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for entrusting us with the mission of making disciples. Help us to see our marriage as more than just a relationship, but as a platform for Your Gospel. Give us eyes to see how we can love well, live with purpose, and make an eternal impact—starting in our home. Amen.
