Pray for Our Caribbean Team
Members of our CFL team in the Caribbean are bracing for Hurricane Melissa. They’ve weathered many storms before, and once again, we’re preparing to come alongside them in the days ahead.
As the storm approaches, please pray for protection over those in its path, especially our ministry partners and families who may be evacuating or facing uncertainty.
CFL is also preparing to provide relief and recovery support after the storm passes.
If you’d like to give toward these efforts, you can do so below.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”Galatians 6:2
Love Like That
“Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:8
We are fully known and fully loved by God. There’s no hiding, no pretending, no performing, just perfect love from a perfect Father. From that truth, Paul reminds us in Romans 13 that there’s one debt we’ll never finish paying, and it’s the debt of love.
But let’s be honest, it’s not always easy to love. Have you ever withheld love? Maybe not out of anger or indifference, but out of hurt or fear?
We’ve all been there, risking vulnerability, we initiate, only to feel rejected or unseen. We open our hearts just a little, believing it’s safe, and when it’s not, shame whispers, “Don’t do that again.” So we pull back. We protect ourselves. We start to live guarded, maybe even distant.
But God’s love changes everything. Only when we truly know His love can we, by faith, express that love to others. His love fills the deficit we feel. It gives us courage to love again, even when it’s risky.
And how much more should this apply to our marriages? If we are forever indebted to love, our spouse should know that we’re willing to pay that debt, all day, every day.
“What manner of love the Father has bestowed on us…” 1 John 3:1
That same love now lives in us, the capacity to love in ways we never thought possible.
We’re grateful to be recipients of that love from the Lord, and to experience it tangibly in marriage.
Love like that!
Reflect:
- Where have you withheld love out of fear or disappointment?
- How can you show God’s kind of love to your spouse this week, freely, fully, and by faith?
