Freedom isn’t free

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free…” Galatians 5:1

Holiday celebrations are always a good time to reflect on why the day exists.
While we hit the beach, fire up the grill, and enjoy warm summer days with friends and family, we also pause to remember the high price paid for the freedoms we enjoy.

I’m always struck by the quote etched in stone in Washington, D.C.:  “Freedom isn’t free.”

A sobering reminder  that freedom always comes at a cost. And not just in the context of our nation, but also in our spiritual life.

Jesus paid the ultimate price so we can experience freedom.  We can be free from sin, shame, fear, and condemnation. When we walk in that freedom it’s more than a theological belief, it’s a transformational truth that impacts how we approach each day.

In marriage, it means we no longer have to perform to earn love, or protect ourselves out of fear. We have been forgiven to be free to forgive.  We have been loved to be free to love without keeping score.  Lastly, we enjoy freedom in Christ that allows us to be free to grow, to fail, and to start over, together.

Freedom, whether national or spiritual, must be stewarded and never taken for granted.  God’s Word provides the needed blueprint to do so with grace, sacrifice and humility.

A Freedom Worth Fighting For:  Would you join us?
