Reproduce a Godly Heritage
“And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28
One of God’s purposes for marriage is for man and woman to have children, raise them to reflect God’s image, and help them own their faith as adults. Despite the fall in Genesis 3, this purpose remains unchanged.
Genesis 3 introduced hardships to this purpose. Bringing children into this world can be daunting, with fears like not being a good parent or infertility. These fears are legitimate but do not alter God’s plan or His ability to empower us to reproduce a Godly heritage. Viewing child-rearing as raising warriors for His Kingdom offers a fresh perspective.
If you are unable to have children, you can still impact the next generation. Invest in the spiritual well-being of children at church, foster, or adopt to fulfill this purpose in your marriage.
Expect attacks from the evil one since this purpose aims to disciple children to look to God. Satan will try to destroy what God establishes, but we do not fear. God, who designed this purpose, will provide all you need to fulfill it!
Having Children
God designed marriage to create a stable and loving environment for children to grow up in. Being fruitful and multiplying fulfills God’s original intent and is always blessed by Him.
Raising Them to Reflect God’s Image
Raising children involves more than just providing for their physical needs. Parents are tasked with the responsibility of nurturing their children’s spiritual, emotional, and moral development. By teaching children about God’s character and guiding them to live in a way that reflects His love, justice, and mercy, parents help shape their children into individuals who mirror God’s image to the world. You can do it!
Helping Them Own Their Faith as Adults
It’s essential for children to grow into adults who have a personal relationship and active faith in God. This involves guiding them spiritually, encouraging them to develop their own walk with the Lord, and helping them understand and live out their faith in everyday life. When children own their faith, they are more likely to remain committed to God’s purposes and pass on a godly heritage to future generations.
