“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
Jesus in the manger.
Jesus teaching in the temple.
Jesus calling His disciples.
Jesus reclining at the table.
Jesus at a wedding, turning water into wine.
Jesus in the garden.
Jesus on the cross.
Jesus in the grave.
Jesus is risen.
Jesus ascended.
Jesus is coming back.
That’s the focus of the Christmas story.
The countdown to Christmas is on. Laundry gets finished. Guest rooms get prepared. Grocery lists grow. Gifts get wrapped. Tammy and I go through our list every year, six kids, two with spouses, three grandchildren, making sure no one is forgotten.
I’m tired just thinking about it. 🙂
But we remind ourselves that what we’re really counting down to is time together.
Moments to laugh, reflect, pray, and remember what matters most. This time of year reminds us that Jesus didn’t just come for us, He came to be with us.
Emmanuel. God with us.
And that’s the heart of Christian Family Life. Marriage discipleship isn’t about doing more. It’s about being present, with God, with our spouse, our children, and with one another, allowing faith, not performance, to shape our relationships.
This Christmas season, as you navigate the beautiful chaos of family life, focus less on the perfect performance and more on the power of presence. Be present with the God who made Himself present for you. Be present with your spouse and children, remembering that the greatest gift you can give is your undivided attention, and the memories you were able to make together.
May this be a Christmas where you don’t just count down the days, but make the days count, by being present and allowing the truth of God with us to breathe life, faith, hope, and love into your home.
