Look to the one who holds it all

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:6-7

“The peaceful transfer of power.” This phrase resonated on Inauguration Day, marking a pivotal moment in U.S. history. It signifies the importance of trusting a process rather than trying to control or manipulate outcomes.

Every day brings its own kind of power struggle. Will we surrender to God’s sovereignty, or will we impose our will to make things happen? The world often defines humility as weakness or a lower status. Yet, Scripture paints a far richer picture: humility is a character quality rooted in complete dependence on God.

This kind of humility expresses itself through faith—a steadfast trust in God regardless of circumstances. It begins by admitting our weakness and looking to the One who is able to accomplish all that concerns us.

What is causing worry, stress, or insecurity today? Are you and your spouse at odds because you’re both trying to control a situation? Resist the flesh’s natural urge to control the narrative. Instead, come together as one in your marriage, bringing your cares to the Lord. Why? Because He cares for you.

When you choose to trust God with your anxieties, you’ll find peace—a peace that comes from the transfer of power from your hands to His.
